About Attorney John Lewis
A native Houstonian, John has spent nearly 20 years exclusively practicing criminal law. After obtaining his license to practice law in 2006, John began his career at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. As an Assistant District Attorney, he handled nearly every type of crime ranging from prosecuting DWI cases to the prosecution of a serial killer. John quickly rose through the ranks and was assigned to both the Major Narcotics and the Major Offenders Divisions of the Special Crimes Bureau of the DA’s Office. In 2013 John was honored with the “Prosecutor of the Year” award for the state of Texas.
After leaving the DA’s Office, John joined the United States Attorney’s Office where he practiced for several years as an Assistant United States Attorney. During his time at the US Attorney’s Office, John led several high profile investigations and prosecutions focused on organized crime.
John has taught numerous courses to police officers and forensic experts including the Houston Police Department, Harris County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences and Houston Forensic Science Center.
